Dr. Jonathan Block

Dr. Jonathan Block

A native of South Florida, Dr. Block grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, he developed an affinity toward integrative therapies as a compliment to the general medicine and surgery of conventional medicine. He quickly realized that expanding his medical “toolbox” as an integrative veterinary practitioner will better prepare him to successfully manage the wide variety of cases that veterinarians encounter on a daily basis. This realization motivated him to become a certified veterinary acupuncturist and a certified canine rehabilitation therapist.

After beginning his professional career in Miami, Florida in 2010 at Knowles Animal Hospital, Dr. Block relocated to New York City where, from 2012 to 2018, he practiced general medicine, surgery and integrative therapies at The Worth Street Veterinary Center. During that time, he completed his acupuncture certification at The Chi Institute in Ocala, Florida and then his canine rehabilitation certification from The Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Coral Springs, Florida. Also in 2012, Dr. Block became a partner and veterinary medical director at Water4Dogs- Canine Rehabilitation Center. During his tenure, Water4Dogs has developed into one of the most recognized stand-alone veterinary rehabilitation facilities in the country.

His professional interests include integrative medicine, rehabilitation medicine, general medicine, and surgery. Outside of work Dr. Block enjoys the great outdoors, running, biking, hiking, sports, yoga, music, art and spending downtime with his wife, daughter, two dogs and cat.

Literally, could not have better things to say about this facility....I brought Toby in a 3:30 am on February 20th. I had to drive 3.5hrs since I live in the keys and they were the only facility that could treat his paralysis. We came in panicked and scared but were met with kindness and calmness. Dr. Little and a technician performed a few tests on Toby and gave me an honest review on what I was looking at for his diagnosis and cost of treatment. We followed up with the head Dr. In the morning, Dr. Wong, for an MRI. After the results were in Dr. Wong came in and sat on the floor with us to talk me through everything and my one million questions. He was incredibly knowledgeable and down to earth, as was their entire staff. I left Toby there for about a week for in-house rehab, where my worries were eased by twice a day phone call updates and pictures of Toby's progress. I continued to drive up on my off days and stay in a hotel to be with him and learn some of his therapy moves. Toby came in not being able to walk on his hind legs and left the facility walking weird, but on his own, lots of work ahead! I have fallen in love with this facility and its staff SO MUCH that I asked if I could drive 3.5hrs just to job shadow here. I can promise you if you take your pet here, your pet's care will not be of concern. My Toby was loved on so much and treated with the utmost care. Thank you so much, Southeast Veterinary Neurology!!

Dr. Depompa was extremely professional and knowledgable. He saved my dog after several other neurologists said there was nothing that could be done. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
