Lupa

lupe

10 year-old Chihuahua

Lupa, a 10-year-old spayed female Chihuahua presented to Southeast Veterinary Neurology for evaluation of inability to walk in all four legs. She was able to move all four legs, but was too weak to stand and support her weight. Her signs were severe in that there was minimal to no movement in any leg. She was painful and would hold her head down. Examination showed that the problem was in her neck (cervical spinal cord). The possible causes were a tumor, a slipped disk, meningitis, a malformation or other less likely cause.
